How to Make Shrikhand at Home

January 15, 2026 · Agrawal Dairy

Shrikhand is a classic Maharashtrian dessert made from hung curd, sugar, and cardamom. Here is how to make it at home with our fresh dahi.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg fresh thick curd (dahi)
  • ½ cup powdered sugar (adjust to taste)
  • ½ tsp cardamom powder
  • A few strands of saffron (optional)
  • Chopped pistachios for garnish

Steps

  1. Hang the curd: Tie curd in a muslin cloth and hang for 4–6 hours until thick. The liquid (whey) should drain out.
  2. Sweeten: Transfer the thick curd (chakka) to a bowl. Add sugar and mix until smooth.
  3. Flavor: Add cardamom and soaked saffron. Mix well.
  4. Chill: Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
  5. Serve: Garnish with pistachios and enjoy chilled.

Tip: Use our Matka Dahi for an authentic earthy flavour.
